Districts 1, 6, 16, 19, Bordeaux, Juvenile Detention Center, Woodbine, North Nashville
Nduka Onwuzuruigbo were awarded $4,000 to work with the Juvenile Detention Center of Metro Nashville to provide an interactive program for 25 students housed in their facility. The artists will take freelance style pictures through out the city of Nashville as a reflection of the districts represented by the student of the Juvenile courts. The artist will then use the pictures as a focal point as it relates to addressing issues internal and external to presenting oneself to his/her neighborhood, city, and the overall society -- to develop and curate an attractive and lasting public persona. Lastly, each student will create a poster size image of themselves using words and picture clippings to keep as a reminder of their newly curated public self. Following the session, a public display of the art will be exhibited at North Branch, Bordeaux Branch, and Thompson Lane Branch libraries. The exhibit will run from March until May 15, 2016.
