How To Do Business With Metro

iProcurement

Suppliers are extremely important to the success of Metro. Every year we receive thousands of responses to solicitations. Successful suppliers are those who bring the most value to the citizens of Nashville. These suppliers and contractors secure procurements by

Supplier Expectations

It is the goal of the Procurement Division to ensure that the products, services and construction we contract meet the needs of the departments we serve. We contract with suppliers in many industry categories, ranging from multi-national corporations to small, locally based businesses. Our desired suppliers are those who understand Metro’s culture and expectations. We value suppliers who take time to learn about and understand our city. These firms seek out ways to add value and bring innovation when providing financially-sound and practical solutions. Suppliers must understand our business requirements and be flexible in responding to changing customer expectations and business conditions. Our suppliers know the importance of making and meeting commitments’ and delivering the highest quality products, services and construction possible.

Commitment to a Diverse Supplier Base

The Procurement Division is committed to engaging minority-owned (MBE), women-owned (WBE), service disabled veteran-owned (SDV), and small business enterprises (SBE). We are always pleased when these firms are well trained, high performing, locally based businesses. They may perform as prime contractors or as subcontractors. Our Business Assistance Office assists MBE/WBE and SDV/SBE firms through the Procurement Non-discrimination Program and the SBE/SDV Incentive Program. Both programs were effectuated by Metro Counsel Ordinances.

The contracts often have terms of up to five years. Therefore, the opportunity for a potential supplier to compete for our business in those commodity areas may be infrequent. Six Metro authorities have purchasing authority independent of the General Government. These authorities include:
