Project Description

A healthy and sustainable food system is fundamental to a healthy and sustainable city. This proposal is to integrate Metro government into the regional food system in a way that benefits the citizenry, particularly those in areas inadequately served by the marketplace, as well as the food system itself. The idea is to identify misalignment between supply and demand for fresh, healthier food; to arrange the system to fill gaps in availability; and to enable a healthier, more sustainable regional food system. Such a system would yield not only better and more readily accessible food, but have a substantial economic benefit to the area as well.
