HR and Benefits: Active Employee Handbook

Continuation of Other Benefits

Your healthcare and life insurance coverage will continue while you are receiving disability benefits under the pension plan. Your healthcare premium rates will be the same as those of active employees until you qualify for Medicare part A and B (see Social Security Benefits), at which point you will pay pensioner premium rates to continue coverage.

Pensioners are eligible for $10,000 of life insurance — provided at no cost to you — unless approved for a waiver of premium (see Life Insurance Waiver of Premium).

NOTE: If you are a pensioner and decline healthcare coverage at any time, you cannot elect it at a later date.
