On January 26, 2010, MPHD and community stakeholders joined forces to organize the first Nashville HEALS, a summit to address healthy eating and active living. Over 150 attendees included Metro Council members, Board of Health members, Healthy Nashville Leadership Council members, and representatives from community coalitions, organizations and businesses with an interest in improving healthy eating and active living and in prevention of obesity and other chronic diseases.

A concrete HEAL agenda for the city was developed to address policy, systems and environmental change. On this page, you will find documents that outline this agenda.

The Nashville HEALS 2011 occurred in April of 2011 with an agenda designed to further emphasize the importance of making healthy places the easier choices for healthy eating and active living. The HEAL Alliance was convened on June 23, 2011 to afford the opportunity for additional coalitions, organizations and community members to come together to support, promote, and share healthy eating and active living efforts in Nashville. Regular meetings and interest area dialogues will occur throughout the year. Check for dates/times on the Event Calendar of
