Neighborhood Conservation Zoning District
Belmont-Hillsboro is a Neighborhood Conservation Zoning Overlay district. Any new construction including additions, demolitions, or relocation of structures is reviewed by the MHZC prior to beginning the project.
Belmont-Hillsboro became a Neighborhood Conservation Zoning Overlay district on April 8, 2005 and was expanded in 2007 and 2012. The area that would become Belmont-Hillsboro was part of the estates of Adelicia Acklen and Colonel A. B. Montgomery. The oldest sections of the neighborhood were subdivided in 1890 and 1891. The mix of Craftsman, Bungalows, American Foursquare and Tudor styles are common in the area. Examples of the Prairie, Eclectic Revival and Contemporary styles are also present. A portion of the district is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
