Metro Management Institute
Metro Management Institute Series Two (MMI2) features an in-depth class curriculum designed for supervisory staff. There are ten classes, four hours each, for a total of forty hours of instruction. The classes should be taken in order – hence, Class # 1 first, followed by Class # 2, etc. We’ll provide a form to assist you in keeping track of your progress through the series. Currently, we offer two opportunities to begin the series per year. Summer term begins in July, and Winter term begins in January.
MMI2 is interactive: expect to take notes, to participate in group exercises, and to learn new management techniques. We include instruction in Civil Service rules, in leadership communication, Metro’s performance management system, conflict resolution, perspectives on management, customer service, and workplace safety. In addition, all three mandatory classes for supervisors – Sexual Harassment Prevention, Diversity Awareness, and Substance Abuse training – are included in the 40-hour series. MMI2 should be a personally rewarding experience.
Enroll in this supervisory series through your department training coordinator or by sending your preferred class dates to the HR Training Requests emailbox (hrtrainingrequests@nashville.gov).
The MMI2 program is endorsed by Middle Tennessee State University. MTSU offers Continuing Education Unit credits (CEUs) to anyone who completes the program, and they will also offer college credit for MMI2 graduates who enroll in their adult degree completion program. Human Resources Training Division will be glad to supply contact information.
If you have questions, please contact your HR Liaison. The training center is located at Metro Southeast, 1417 Murfreesboro Road (Genesco Park).
