Free Summer Program at Two High Schools

The Mayor’s Scholars Academy is a free academic enrichment program that takes place over four weeks in the summer. The purpose of the program is to help students succeed in high school and prepare for college.

Activities include developing math and writing skills, arts, ACT prep and college visits. Lunch and weekly field trips are provided at no cost. The program will be held at Cane Ridge High School and Hunters Lane High School.

June 9 – July 3, 2014
Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Student Application

Students who are currently in the 7th, 8th, 9th or 10th grade in Metro schools are eligible to apply. The student enrollment process is a rolling admission through April 30, although immediate application submission is encouraged. Students and their parents will be notified about their enrollment status on or before April 30, 2014. At that time, enrolled students also will receive further instructions regarding transportation and program details.

Teacher Application

The Mayor’s Office is seeking a dynamic team of teachers and youth development staff to work with 400 of Nashville’s rising 8th-11th grade students in the summer of 2014. Scholars Academy focuses on academic skills needed in high school and college, while also supporting college aspiration goals and college access tools. Applications for Teacher Leader and Site Director positions will be accepted through March 31. Applicants will receive a response to an application for employment by April 30.
