Metro School Supply Drive
Mayor Karl Dean challenged Metro Departments to compete in the first annual back-to-school supply drive in July 2012
to help make sure students have the supplies they need including scissors, notebook paper, backpacks and other supplies they need to be ready for school. The school supply drive ran from July 9 to July 20 at all Metro offices. Departments that collected the most supplies were recognized by Mayor Dean at a ceremony where awards were given to departments who won their categories.
The following departments won their category. (Note: The winners for the General Government were selected by total number of average pounds per person for each department, which included both donated items and virtual donations):
General Government: Agricultural Extension
Public Safety: Metro Nashville Fire Department
Public Participation: Nashville Public Library
