Tennessee's Community Action Agencies

Community Action Agencies (CAAs) are nonprofit private and public organizations established under the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 to fight America’s War on Poverty. Community Action Agencies help people to help themselves in achieving self-sufficiency. Today, there are approximately 1,200 Community Action Agencies in the United States.

The service areas of Community Action Agencies cover 96% of the nation’s counties and 100% of Tennessee’s counties. The following is a list of Community Action Agencies throughout Tennessee. Eligibility for services is income-based and services must be provided by the Community Action Agency in the county in which you live.
