Resolution RS2018-1026

A resolution accepting a donation from E3 Construction Services, in honor of Ja’Donte Thompson, to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for the use and benefit of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department’s North Precinct.

WHEREAS, E3 Construction Services wishes to honor the memory of Ja’Donte Thompson, who recently lost his life while attempting to protect his family from a home invasion; and,

WHEREAS, E3 Construction Services wishes to donate $15,000.00, in honor of Ja’Donte Thompson, to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, for the use and benefit of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department’s North Precinct, specifically for the purchase of 10 police patrol bicycles to be used in the North Precinct to increase community policing in the area; and,

WHEREAS, a copy of the donation documentation is attached hereto and incorporated herein; and,

WHEREAS, pursuant to Metropolitan Code of Laws § 5.04.120(B), donations exceeding $5,000 may be accepted and appropriated pursuant to Resolution; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this donation be accepted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the donation by E3 Construction Services of $15,000.00 to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, for the use and benefit of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department’s North Precinct, pursuant to the donation documentation attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.

Section 2. That the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department is hereby authorized to accept this donation for its use and benefit.

Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
