Notice of Public Hearings

Speaking at a Public Hearing

Members of the public may address the entire Council body only at a scheduled public hearing. Public Hearings on zoning matters are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Other public hearings for non-zoning matters may be held as part of regular Council meetings throughout the year.

Public Hearing Procedure

The Vice Mayor will open the public hearing for a particular legislative item and ask for a show of hands of those in favor and those opposed to the legislation. Citizens will have 3 minutes to speak, and must identify themselves by name and home address before addressing the Council. An individual may address the Council only once for each particular piece of legislation. Individuals are encouraged not to repeat what has been said by previous speakers.

Distribution of Written Material to the Council

If a member of the public would like to provide the Metropolitan Council members with written material regarding an issue, he/she must provide forty-one copies of the document to the Metropolitan Council Office not later than 4:30 p.m. on the day of the Council Meeting. The Council Office is located in Suite 204 on the second floor of the Historic Metropolitan Courthouse at the opposite end of the Council Chamber. The written material must be signed by the individual requesting distribution and have the name and address of the individual providing the material.


Notice is hereby given that public hearings on the following proposed amendments to the Zoning Code or Official Zoning Map of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at 6:30 pm in the Metropolitan Courthouse.

BILL NO. BL2014-725 amending Section 17.12.030 pertaining to the calculation of required street setbacks for residential areas with an established development pattern.

BILL NO. BL2014-731 Amending property at 5207 Nolensville Pike to permit all uses of CS, excluding certain uses, approximately 120 feet north of Brewer Drive, zoned CS (1.77 acres).

BILL NO. BL2014-732 hanging from AR2a to CS zoning for property at 3515 Pin Hook Road, approximately 2,220 feet south of Mt. View Road (3.11 Acres).

BILL NO. BL2014-733 Changing from CL to CS zoning for properties at 7417 and 7421 Old Hickory Boulevard, approximately 2,260 feet west of Interstate 24 (3.02 acres).

BILL NO. BL2014-734 Changing from R6 to SP zoning for properties at 1421 Porter Road and Porter Road (unnumbered), approximately 500 feet south of McKennell Drive (0.61 Acres), to permit up to six detached dwelling units.

BILL NO. BL2014-735 Changing from ORI to SP zoning for properties at 54, 56, 58, 60, 62 and 64 Music Square West, at the northeast corner of Music Square West and Music Square South (1.43 Acres), to permit a mixture of uses and up to 230 multifamily residential units or redevelopment under the ORI-A zoning district.

BILL NO. BL2014-736 Changing from R10 to RS10 zoning for various properties along Brewer Drive, Tusculum Road, Tusculum Court, Ocala Drive, Ocala Court North, Byrnes Drive, Wessex Drive, Wessex Court, Eulala Drive, Eulala Court, Eulala Circle, Townes Drive, Townes Court, Delvin Drive, Delvin Court, Sterry Court, Colemont Drive, Garden View Court, Ash Grove Drive, Ash Briar Circle, and Ashmont Court, east of Nolensville Pike (approximately 175 acres).

BILL NO. BL2014-737 making applicable the provisions of the Lockeland Springs-East End Neighborhood Conservation Overlay District to various properties along Avondale Drive, Bushnell Street, Eastland Avenue, Lakehurst Drive, Lockland Drive, McEwen Avenue, N. 17th Street, N. 18th Street, Ordway Place, and Rudolph Avenue, south of Eastland Avenue (approximately 26 acres).

BILL NO. BL2014-738 Changing from RS5 to SP zoning for property at 612 N. 2nd Street, approximately 285 feet north of Berry Street (0.17 Acres), to permit single-family or detached two-family units.

BILL NO. BL2014-739 Amending Chapter 17.08 pertaining to Personal Instruction.

BILL NO. BL2014-740 Amending Sections 17.04.060 and 17.08.030 create and define “auction house”, “flea market”, “beer and cigarette market”, and “grocery store” as new land uses.

BILL NO. BL2014-741 Amending Chapters 17.12 and 17.40 pertaining to Floor Area Ratio (FAR) within the Urban Zoning Overlay District.
