WHO: The Metro Public Health Department along with community partners will host this year’s Incredible Baby Shower, a free event to assist new parents or soon to be parents with important information for having a healthy pregnancy, and raising a happy and healthy child.
WHAT: The Shower will feature classes, demonstrations and resources, allowing parents to make informed decisions for a healthy baby and creating a healthy family. More than 300 new moms, dads and parents to be are expected to participate.
The Health Department began the Shower 20 years ago. The Shower is a free event and will feature more than 30+ booths offering everything from infant safety, breastfeeding basics, parenting skills, tips on how to stop smoking,and nutrition, just to name a few.
Just like a real baby shower, there will be gifts, door prizes, including 300 diaper bags filled with baby items and other prizes.
WHEN: Saturday, March 9 from 10 a.m. to 2p.m.
WHERE: TSU Main Campus Gentry Center (28th Avenue North to Ed Temple Blvd to Walter Davis Blvd)
WHY: The shower is designed to assist new parents or soon to be parents with important information needed for having and raising a happy and healthy child. The Health Department is seeking to lower Nashville’s infant mortality rate, where African American infants are over twice as likely to die before their first birthday than white infants.
