Despite the chilly weather, Davidson County residents participated in last Saturday morning’s successful ‘Recycle
& Win’ event at the Elysian Fields Recycling Drop Off.

The ‘Recycle & Win’ program is a sustainability initiative designed by Coca-Cola to promote municipal
recycling programs by raising awareness about the importance of recycling for both economic and
environmental reasons. Throughout the initiative, Coca-Cola Consolidated, Kroger, Metro Public Works, and
Metro Beautification and Environment Commission award Nashville residents a $50 Kroger gift card if they are
“caught” recycling the right way.

To give residents of Davidson County who do not have access to ‘Curby’, Metro’s curbside recycling program,
a chance to participate in the ‘Recycle & Win’ program, $50 Kroger Gift Cards are awarded at events planned
on Saturdays at Metro’s Community Recycle Drop-offs. At the events, volunteers check all items brought to
the drop offs to make sure they are accepted in the Metro recycling program. If they are, the citizen can enter
their name in a drawing for Kroger gift card prizes. Ten $50 Kroger gift cards are given away at the end of the
events. Winners are notified via a prize voucher in the mail.

Last Saturday’s event at Elysian Fields Recycling Drop Off was the 3rd of four events. The grand finale event is
planned for this May 25th at LP Field between 9a.m. and 1p.m.
