16-Year-Old Student Arrested for South Nashville Home Burglary

April 25, 2013

A 16-year-old admitted home burglar who tried to hide under a storage shed on Brewer Drive this afternoon ultimately found himself in the clutches of police dog Aengus.
The teenager, who told detectives he walked away from school after third period today, came out of a home on Watsonwood Drive in South Nashville at 1:45 p.m. just as the resident arrived home.  The homeowner screamed and the teen ran.  A witness followed the fleeing burglar to the 500 block of Brewer Drive.  Canine Officer Robert Collins and his partner found the teen under the shed.  A laptop computer and change taken from the victim’s home were found in nearby bushes.
The 16-year-old was booked at juvenile detention on charges of aggravated burglary, felony theft and resisting arrest thanks to the quick and coordinated response by South Precinct patrol and flex officers, detectives, and the Canine Unit.
