Collision on I-40 Near Downtown Claims Life of Louisiana Man

May 3, 2013

A Jeep Wrangler traveling the wrong way in the eastbound lanes of I-40 near downtown at 3:20 a.m. is the at-fault vehicle in a collision that claimed the life of Christopher Silvio, 24, of Denham Springs, Louisiana.
Silvio was driving a 2009 Hyundai Accent on I-40 east when the 2004 Jeep, which is believed to have accessed the interstate at the Charlotte Avenue ramp, collided with the car head-on.  The Jeep’s headlights were apparently not activated.  Silvio died at the scene.  His girlfriend, Danielle Bledsoe, 19, was critically injured.  She is being treated at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
The driver of the Jeep, Kenneth Faulkenberry, 34, and his passenger, Robert Faulkenberry, 32, both of South Carolina, were critically injured.  They are also being treated at Vanderbilt.
There was no evidence at the scene to indicate impairment on the part of either driver.
Charges are pending the completion of the investigation and a review by the District Attorney’s Office.
