Metro Animal Care and Control Volunteer Information Session May 25, 2013

5/8/2013

Metro Animal Care and Control to Host Volunteer Information Session:
MACC Seeks Additional Shelter Volunteers

If you are an animal lover who wants to give back to your community, then Metro Animal Care and Control may have a volunteer opportunity for you.

Those who enjoy spending time working directly with animals would make a great Adoption Volunteer. Lost Pet Volunteers are needed to help reunite lost pets with owners. Adoption Screening Volunteers educate the public about being a responsible pet owner.

Those interested in becoming a MACC volunteer are invited to attend a Volunteer Information Session at the shelter, located at 5125 Harding Place, on Saturday, May 25, at 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.  MACC is planning to hold quarterly Volunteer Information Sessions if you cannot make the one on May 25th.

We will discuss how the shelter operates, different volunteer roles and opportunities, and provide a tour of MACC.  Interested candidates should be available to volunteer between the hours of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and a minimum of eight hours per month is required of each volunteer.  Volunteers are not required to live in Davidson County.

Volunteers must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age;
  • Complete the Background Check; and
  • Complete MACC’s Volunteer Orientation Program.

Volunteers must complete an application at the session, so be sure to have the following information when you attend:

  • Emergency contact information
  • Social Security number. Not required in Volunteer Application but is required for background check.
  • State ID or Driver’s License
  • Proof of your last tetanus shot (must be within the last five years)
  • Background check information provided at Orientation
