Message from Chief Anderson--Battle of the Badges

July 17, 2013

While donating blood at the American Red Cross on Tuesday, I had the privilege of meeting 10-year-old Kolby Westmoreland, who, during his young life, has already undergone three liver transplant operations.  What a courageous individual (who also assured me that giving blood doesn’t hurt at all).  It is persons like Kolby, and our own family and friends who could be involved in a tragic accident without warning, that point to the real need for blood donation.  The Red Cross reports the summertime blood supply in our area is very low.  Please consider donating blood this Friday at the West Club of LP Field (park in stadium Lot S) as part of the annual Battle of the Badges campaign.  We will be involved in a friendly competition with the Sheriff’s Office & Fire Department to see which agency can arrange for the donation of the most units of blood.  All persons, including non-police department employees, are welcome to donate.  Just ask them to report in as a member of the police department’s team.

There will be a Kolby Westmoreland Fun Day Benefit this Saturday, July 20, from 1 p.m.-9 p.m., featuring food, music, vendors, coffee, a Kid Zone and door prizes.  It will be held at Authentic Coffee Company, 1650 Highway 31 W in Millersville.

Kolby Westmoreland & Chief Anderson met Tuesday at Nashville’s Red Cross Office.
