November 13, 2013

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Rutherford County Commissioner Matthew Young is in Metro police custody on a grand jury indictment charging him with two counts of felony theft for his alleged involvement in a bogus concert ticket conspiracy involving tens of thousands of dollars.

Young, 31, who is a firefighter in Murfreesboro, was arrested this evening at a fire hall by Rutherford County authorities acting at the request of Nashville Fraud detectives.  He was then transported to the county line, where Metro police assumed custody of him.

Young is accused of taking part in a scheme in which at least three victims were promised concert and event tickets in exchange for large sums of money.  Investigation by Fraud Detective Anita Prather showed that the three victims paid a total of more than $65,000 in anticipation of tickets, but never received anything in return.

Also indicted are Kenneth Cooper, 43, who is presently incarcerated in Kentucky, and Harvey Felsher, 66, of Biloxi, Mississippi.  Felsher is not in custody at present.

Young’s bond is set at $50,000.
