Deion Woodruff Wanted for Murder
December 19, 2013
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
West Precinct detectives tonight identified 19-year-old Deion Woodruff as the man suspected of killing 28-year-old Isaac Morris Tuesday morning inside the 12th Avenue South apartment (Edgehill public housing community) where Morris lived. An arrest warrant charging Woodruff with criminal homicide is now outstanding.
SWAT officers assigned to the Special Response Team today joined detectives from the West and East Precincts in executing a search warrant at Woodruff’s 1408 Straightway Avenue residence. He was not there, although evidence linking him to the murder case was recovered.
The investigation by James Slusser and his colleagues shows that Morris let a man, alleged to have been Woodruff, into the apartment for the purpose of selling him electronic equipment. The two men went upstairs. A short time later, gunshots were heard and the suspect fled carrying a black bag believed to have been taken from Morris’ room.
The search is continuing for Woodruff. Anyone seeing him or knowing his whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME. Citizens can also send an electronic tip to Crime Stoppers by texting the word “CASH” along with their message to 274637 (CRIMES) or online at www.nashvillecrimestoppers.com
. Persons who contact Crime Stoppers by phone, text or Internet can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.
