Man Fatally Wounded Early Sunday Identified

The man fatally shot early Sunday morning inside the Elks Lodge bar, 2614 Jefferson Street, is identified as Shondell Martin, 41.
According to witnesses, Martin and the gunman exchanged words prior to Martin being fatally wounded.  Martin was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.  A second man suffered a non-critical wound to his shoulder and was transported by personal vehicle to General Hospital.   
The suspect is described as a black man who is approximately 5’8” tall.  He wore a brown jacket over a light gray hooded sweatshirt.  Anyone with information regarding the gunman involved in the murder of Shondell Martin is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.  Citizens can also send an electronic tip to Crime Stoppers by texting the word “CASH” along with their message to 274637 (CRIMES) or by logging onto  Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.
