Last Weekend's Operation Safer Streets Initiative Netted 71 Arrests

Last weekend’s Operation Safer Streets gang enforcement initiative, which took place Friday, Saturday and Sunday, resulted in 71 arrests involving 65 misdemeanors, eleven felonies and 19 warrants served. Seized were eight ounces of marijuana, four ounces of cocaine and one gun.
          
At least three times a week, officers and supervisors representing each of the seven precincts and the Specialized Investigations Division (SID) partner together to implement strategies to combat gang crime and activities in various areas of Nashville.
          
Friday’s enforcement consisted of six SID detectives, six supervisors, 21 patrol officers and one canine officer.  Areas targeted were the 200 block of Hickory Street, Woodruff Street, McKinley Street, Bluegrass Avenue, Jefferson Street, Buchanan Street, 16th Avenue North, Hart Lane at Ellington Parkway, Rock Street, and Lynn Drive.
          
Saturday’s enforcement consisted of four SID detectives, seven supervisors, 19 patrol officers and one canine officer.  Areas targeted were 6th Avenue South, 12th Avenue South, the 800 block of Murfreesboro Pike, Cannon Street, Charles E. Davis Boulevard, Delaware Avenue, Morrow Road, the 5100 block of Charlotte Pike, and Patricia Drive.
         
Sunday’s enforcement consisted of six SID detectives, three supervisors and six officers.  Areas targeted were Webster Street, Wallace Road, Largo Drive, the 3300 block of Creekwood Drive, Trinity Lane at Ellington Parkway, and the 3500 block of Willow Creek Road.
