FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Hermitage Precinct detectives this morning charged 17-year-old Kaemon Robinson with criminal homicide for Tuesday night’s fatal shooting of his friend, 15-year-old Kevin Barbee, inside an apartment on Burning Tree Drive.

Witnesses reported that Robinson was playing with a pistol when it discharged, striking Barbee in the face.  Robinson fled the apartment prior to police arrival.  Barbee was rushed to Summit Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

An attorney representing Robinson contacted police during the night saying that Robinson wanted to surrender.  Robinson and his mother met detectives at their apartment in the Burning Tree complex, which is separate from the shooting scene.  Robinson declined to give a statement prior to booking.  The pistol used has not yet been recovered.

The investigation is continuing.
