Off-Duty Officer Christopher Stafford Arrested on DUI & Gun Charges

February 20, 2014

North Precinct Officer Christopher Stafford has been decommissioned and placed on administrative assignment as the result of his off-duty arrest Wednesday night on charges of DUI and handgun possession while under the influence of alcohol.
South Precinct officers were called to an Edmondson Pike apartment complex at 6:40 p.m. by an acquaintance of Stafford, who reported him to be intoxicated and involved in an argument with another motorist.  Stafford had driven to the complex in a Dodge pickup truck with his young child.  Responding officers detected an odor of alcohol from Stafford.  The administration of Standard Field Sobriety Tasks indicated impairment.  A loaded pistol was found in Stafford’s truck.  Stafford agreed to the submission of a blood sample, which will be analyzed by the TBI crime laboratory for alcohol content.
Stafford, 42, is a 13-year veteran of the police department.  He was released from jail after posting a $6,000 bond.
