80 Youngsters Graduate Today from MNPD's Multi-Cultural Youth Academy
June 6, 2014
Eighty Nashville youngsters between the ages of 8 & 13 will graduate this afternoon from the South Precinct’s Multi-Cultural Youth Academy.
The ceremony is scheduled for 3 p.m. in the South Precinct’s community room at 5101 Harding Place off I-24.
The annual Multi-Cultural Youth Academy is part of the police department’s outreach to the diverse communities of the city at the beginning of students’ summer break. Over the past week, participants attended presentations on what to do if they witness domestic violence, resistance to gangs and peer pressure, and Internet safety. They also accompanied officers on field trips to the police department’s aviation and canine facilities, as well as an outing to Wave Country swimming pool.
Parents of the youngsters will be in attendance at today’s graduation ceremony. Media representatives are invited.
