June 10, 2014

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Arrest warrants charging criminal impersonation of a police officer, false imprisonment and theft have been issued against convicted robber Charles Virgil Thompson II, 31.

Thompson allegedly took a man’s ATM card and attempted to withdraw money Wednesday morning while posing as a police officer.  He is also accused of committing a similar offense that occurred last Tuesday in the 800 block of Murfreesboro Pike.  In that case, a man pulled over after a vehicle with an interior flashing blue light began to follow him.  The victim surrendered his wallet to a man posing as a police officer who took his cash.  Thompson has been positively identified in both incidents.  Detectives are still working to identify Thompson’s female accomplice.
In addition to robbery, Thompson has previous convictions for unlawful gun possession, theft, and drug possession.

Anyone who knows Thompson’s whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.   Citizens can also send an electronic tip to Crime Stoppers by texting the word “CASH” along with their message to 274637 (CRIMES) or online at www.nashvillecrimestoppers.com.  Persons who contact Crime Stoppers by phone, text or Internet can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.
