Suspected Police Impersonator Identified

Arrest warrants charging criminal impersonation of a police officer, false imprisonment and theft have been issued against convicted robber Charles Virgil Thompson II, 31.

Thompson allegedly took a man’s ATM card and attempted to withdraw money Wednesday morning while posing as a police officer.  He is also accused of committing a similar offense that occurred last Tuesday in the 800 block of Murfreesboro Pike.  In that case, a man pulled over after a vehicle with an interior flashing blue light began to follow him.  The victim surrendered his wallet to a man posing as a police officer who took his cash.  Thompson has been positively identified in both incidents.  Detectives are still working to identify Thompson’s female accomplice. 
In addition to robbery, Thompson has previous convictions for unlawful gun possession, theft, and drug possession.
