June 10, 2014

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Hermitage Precinct officers and members of the FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force are working to identify the man who this afternoon robbed Fifth Third Bank’s 5550 Old Hickory Boulevard branch in Hermitage.

The robber walked into the bank at 1:09 p.m. with pantyhose over his face, a satchel over his shoulder and an open umbrella in one hand.  He placed an item that he claimed to be a bomb on the counter and demanded money.  After the teller complied, the robber fled.  The police department’s Hazardous Devices Unit responded to the bank.  The object left behind was a hoax device.

The robber is a middle aged white man who is just over six feet tall and has blonde hair.  Anyone recognizing him from bank surveillance photographs is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.  Citizens can also send an electronic tip to Crime Stoppers by texting the word “CASH” along with their message to 274637 (CRIMES) or online at www.nashvillecrimestoppers.com.  Persons who contact Crime Stoppers by phone, text or Internet can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.
