July 16, 2014
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
An eleven-year-old girl critically injured July 8th in a four-vehicle collision on I-24 east near Briley Parkway (north of downtown) died Tuesday evening at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.
Alyssa Johnson of Clarksville was a passenger in the back seat of a Ford Explorer driven by Patricia Dreher, 66, of University Place, Washington. The SUV was stopped in traffic and struck from behind by the driver of a Chrysler Sebring, William Miller, 70, of Pierz, Minnesota.
None of the drivers/passengers in the other two vehicles received life-threatening injuries. There was no evidence of alcohol or drug involvement at the scene. Inattention to the roadway on the part of Miller appears to be the contributing factor to this fatal crash. There are no charges against Miller at present. The final investigative report will be reviewed by the District Attorney’s Office when it is complete.
