Two Burglary Suspects Arrested
August 8, 2014
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
A quick police response today led to the arrest of two burglary suspects after they broke into a home in the 1500 block of Stokley Lane in Old Hickory while a 15-year-old was inside alone.
21-year-old Angelo Gleaves and a 17-year-old allegedly knocked on the door and when no one answered, backed a car into the driveway. The 15-year-old victim called her father. He told her to call 9-1-1. The suspects entered the house and the victim hid.
Officers arrived and spotted both suspects as they fled toward the Cumberland River. Numerous citizens assisted police in reporting their direction of flight. Ultimately, Gleaves jumped into the river and had to be rescued by Officers Thomas Spence and Eric Uruski. The 17-year-old was apprehended by Canine Officer Stephen Holland and Kaos near the river’s edge.
Both suspects are charged with aggravated burglary, vandalism, felony theft and evading arrest. Gleaves’ photo is being withheld pending lineups in other cases. The teen is also a suspect in other break-ins.
