FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

East Precinct Officer Jonathan Perez has been decommissioned and will be assigned to desk duty as the result of his arrest this morning by Domestic Violence Division detectives on a charge of misdemeanor stalking.

Perez, 31, a five-year MNPD veteran, is accused of continuously contacting a co-worker with whom he previously had a dating relationship after she repeatedly asked him to cease sending her messages and mailings.  The contact is alleged to have continued after one of Perez’s supervisors instructed him to stop.

Bond for Perez is set at $2,500.  The police department’s Office of Professional Accountability is conducting a parallel administrative investigation of Perez’s actions.
