NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April. 21, 2015) - Metro crews are on site repairing a sink hole on the cross-walk on Korean Veterans Boulevard at 4th Ave. S.

One lane of traffic on Korean Veterans Boulevard at 4th Ave. N. is closed in the Eastbound direction. This lane closure is expected to remain in effect through this 5p.m. this evening.

More information will be provided to the media and posted on twitter, Facebook and the Public Works road closure page as it becomes available.

The sink hole is being evaluated by Metro Public Works and contractors. A subgrade failure beneath the cross-walk on Korean Veterans Boulevard at 4th Avenue South caused the concrete slab supporting the brick cross-walk to collapse resulting in a large hole. As an emergency temporary measure, the cavity is being backfilled with stone and will be capped with asphaltic binder to match the elevation of the surrounding surface. The site will then be monitored for the next few weeks for any additional movement. After that a permanent repair will be made.

The public is advised to avoid this area if possible through the remainder of the afternoon in order to avoid traffic tie ups and allow crews to repair the affected area as quickly as possible.
