Citing her love for Nashville and her continuing strong desire to help
people, East Precinct Officer Faye Denson told media representatives on November
20th that she looks forward to returning to full police duties once she is
medically cleared.
Officer Denson, a seven-year MNPD veteran, suffered a gunshot wound to her
right leg on November 5th while assisting another officer during a foot chase of
an 18-year-old armed with a pistol. The man who opened fire on Denson, Eric D.
Perkins, was wounded by another officer. Perkins is now jailed on charges of
attempted murder, evading arrest and felony unlawful gun possession.
Officer Denson, who returned to the East Precinct for the first time since
being shot to speak with the media, expressed her sincere thanks to her
colleagues and the citizens of Nashville for their kind support. Members of the
police department have signed up to provide meals to Officer Denson at her home
through December.
