Eleven Officers Promoted to Sergeant Effective Today

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE      

Chief Steve Anderson today announced the promotion of eleven officers/detectives to the rank of sergeant effective immediately to fill existing precinct vacancies.       

Those assuming new supervisory roles are:

Sergeant David Bruce 

•   Sergeant David Bruce, an 8-year MNPD veteran, who is now a supervisor on the Midtown Hills Precinct’s overnight shift.  He formerly was assigned to the Specialized Investigations Division’s Gang Unit.  Bruce holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Middle Tennessee State University.

Sergeant Jerry Denton 

•    Sergeant Jerry Denton, a 17-year MNPD veteran, who is now a supervisor on the East Precinct’s day shift.  He formerly was assigned to the Canine Unit.  Denton holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Middle Tennessee State University.

Sergeant Jordan Donegan 

•    Sergeant Jordan Donegan, a 6-year MNPD veteran, who is now a supervisor on the Hermitage Precinct’s overnight shift.  He was formerly assigned to South Precinct Investigations.  Donegan holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Bethel University.

Sergeant Ryan Fink 

•    Sergeant Ryan Fink, an 8-year MNPD veteran, who is now a supervisor on the East Precinct’s overnight shift.  He was formerly assigned to the Specialized Investigations Division’s Major Case Task Force.  Fink holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Miami University.

Sergeant Blake Giles 

•    Sergeant Blake Giles, a 5-year MNPD veteran, who is now a supervisor on the Hermitage Precinct’s day shift.  He was formerly assigned to East Precinct Investigations.  Giles holds a Master’s Degree from Bellevue University and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Tennessee.

Sergeant Stephen Holland 

•    Sergeant Stephen Holland, a 10-year MNPD veteran, who is now a supervisor on the Midtown Hills Precinct’s day shift.  He was formerly assigned to the Canine Unit.  Holland holds a Master’s and Bachelor’s Degrees from Springfield College.

Sergeant Brittany McElwee 

•    Sergeant Brittany McElwee, a 6-year MNPD veteran, who is now a supervisor on the South Precinct’s evening shift.  She was formerly assigned to the Domestic Violence Division.  McElwee holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Pensacola Christian College.

Sergeant Roy McElwee 

•    Sergeant Roy McElwee, a 6-year MNPD veteran, who is now a supervisor on the Hermitage Precinct’s evening shift.  He was formerly assigned to the West Precinct.

Sergeant John Melia 

•    Sergeant John Melia, a 6-year MNPD veteran, who is now a supervisor on the East Precinct’s overnight shift. Melia was formerly assigned to the DUI Unit. 

Sergeant Robert Goodwin 

•    Sergeant Robert Goodwin, a 9-year MNPD veteran, who is now a supervisor on the Hermitage Precinct’s evening shift.  He was formerly assigned to the East Precinct.  Goodwin holds an Associate’s Degree from Nashville State Technical College. 

Sergeant Nicholas Kulp

•    Sergeant Nicholas Kulp, a 7-year MNPD veteran, who is now a supervisor on the Midtown Hills Precinct’s evening shift.  He was formerly assigned to North Precinct Investigations.  Kulp holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Belmont University and Law Degree from Nashville School of Law.
