Young Performers Program

Our Young Performers Program offers several opportunities through the year for youth age 8 to 18.  Younger students will benefit from classes and workshops and showcases for family and friends, while older and more experienced students will be participating in full productions, both in our theater spaces, as well as in other locations around town.

 Summer Musical

One of our best-loved programs is our Summer Musical, which is presented the last two weekends in June each year.  Our summer musicals always boast a professional production team, and professional musicians, so that the young performers are learning every step of the way, as they not only hone thier stage skills, but build confidence, broaden their cultural awareness, and nuture wonderful friendships with thier fellow cast members.  The musical is performed in our own  Z. Alexander Looby Theater .  All of our performance-focused programs require a placement audition, and often have a "participation fee" to defray the costs.  Please look carefully at the audition information below for the next audition date, and for details about costs, ages, rehearsal requirements and performance dates.

Cabaret Series

Our "Cabaret Series" allows young vocalists to improve their vocal performance skills in an elegant setting.  Our series began in 2009 at Two Rivers Mansion, and continued thru December of 2011 with our young song-stylists performing everything from classics like Gershwin and Porter, to the new and avant gaurde from John Bucchino and Lisa Aschmann.  And more exciting performances are in the works.  Look for more opportunities in solo vocal performance coming soon as the final touches are made in our new space, the Centennial Black Box Theater.

Specialty Performances

Our staff keeps an eye out for additional opportunites for our students to perform and hone their skills.  Some of our past performances have included bringing excerpts from the Summer Musical to the Celebrate Nashville Cultural Festival.  We also are able to create performances that bring to light our music-education aspect, such as our "A Taste of the '20's" revue, which was performed for TPAC Education's Arts Appetizer.  Each chance that our young artists get to perform enriches them with continued confidence and skill-building, as well as helping them build bridges into diverse communities and new peer groups.

Classes

We also will soon be returning to a full roster of acting and theater classes, so check back for more information.
