Cornelia Fort Trailhead Planning
Situated in the floodplain along the Cumberland River, the 132 acre Cornelia Fort AirPark site was inundated with water in May of 2010, submerging hangers, planes and the airpark terminal building. In May of 2011 Metro Nashville purchased the property with the help of the Land Trust for Tennessee. The new acreage increases Shelby Bottoms to over 950 acres.
A trailhead, greenway connections and landscaping will be installed in summer of 2013.
