The Vanity Fair was the entertainment portion of the Centennial. Cultural exhibits showed visitors exotic scenes as "The Chinese Village." The Chinese Village hosted 200 Chinese citizens to exhibit "real life" in a Chinese Village. The "Streets of Cairo" exhibit was filled with Egyptian music and mysterious dancers. The Vanity Fair also featured early amusement rides. "Shooting the Chutes," hurled a cab full of visitors down a ramp into a pool of water like an early "flume" ride.
