During this time the Parthenon was still made of temporary materials. By 1910 the City removed the pediment figures and the building showed serious signs of age. The plaster finish was not designed to last over a decade. By 1920 the plaster Parthenon was in serious disrepair and the City decided to reconstruct the Parthenon out of more permanent materials, reinforced concrete.
