About Lt. Matthew Sears

Lieutenant Sears began his law enforcement career in Charlottesville, VA in 2003 before returning home to Nashville in 2005 to work with the MNPD. He has worked as a Zone Officer, Field Training Officer, District Sergeant, and the In-Service Training Coordinator / Training Division liaison for TN POST. He currently serves as a Patrol Lieutenant in addition to being the MNPD Drill & Ceremony Team Commander. Lieutenant Sears has completed training on issues surrounding law enforcement officers killed in action (LEOKA) and in conducting police funerals. He has also completed the South Eastern Command & Leadership Academy (SECLA) and the Northwestern University School of Police Staff & Command. He holds a Master’s Degree from Lipscomb University.
