Brown's Creek Cleanup by South Nashville Action People (SNAP)

Brown's Creek cleanup volunteersRecent extreme temperatures delayed the project one week, but ultimately did not deter a group of volunteers from cleaning up Brown's Creek. On Saturday, July 7, volunteers from the South Nashville Action People (SNAP) neighborhood group removed several piles of debris and nearly "a whole car's worth of parts" from the creek!

Ceremony on Monday, October 6 kicks off “Jubilee Day” events

Members of the JUMP organization and representatives from Fisk and Meharry worked closely with Metro to form the Jubilee Bridge Beautification Committee to revitalize the historic Jubilee Bridge, which serves as a gateway to both college campuses as well as surrounding residential and commercial neighborhoods. Metro Beautification & Environment, Metro Parks & Recreation, and Public Works combined resources to pressure wash and clean the bridge deck and railings, provide new landscaping and erect new streetscape signage. The ceremony was held at the north end of the bridge next to the new decorative Jubilee Bridge sign.

The Donelson GatewayProject is a cooperative effort whose purpose is to create a landscaped “Gateway” to Donelson's Neighborhoods and Business District. The location of phase 1 of the project is on the SE quadrant of the Lebanon Road – Briley Parkway Interchange.
