The Bordeaux Mulching Facility

Mulch photoLocated on County Hospital Road, the Bordeaux Mulching Facility is where residents, contractors or businesses can take brush and leaves for recycling.

Open Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. No mulch sales after 12 noon on Saturdays.

Accepts: untreated wood; limbs and brush; leaves and non-commercial grass clippings only in biodegradable paper bags that are free from any other trash or material.
Does not Accept: stumps (with roots and/or dirt); food composting

Drop-off Fees

  • Wood chips -- $16/ton
  • Brush -- $0.012/lb
  • Logs (over 24 in. diameter) -- $25/each

Once the brush and leaves arrive at the center they are ground and allowed age for one year before being ground again and sold as mulch.

Finished mulch is sold by the Red River Ranch, LLC Metro's wood grinding contractor and is available for anyone to purchase.

Prices for mulch (before sales tax)

  • Natural brown hardwood mulch:
    • $20/small compact pickup trucks
    • $35/full size pickup trucks with bed 8 feet long
    • $9.50/cubic yard for all larger vehicles with over 4 cubic yard capacity
  • Leaf Compost:
    • $30/small compact pickup trucks
    • $45/full size pickup trucks with bed 8 feet long
    • $14/cubic yard for all larger vehicles with over 4 cubic yard capacity
