Yard Waste Processing Facilities

Metro Public Works has a new contract to accept leaves, tree limbs and other yard waste from Metro’s Brush Collection program. The new contract with Living Earth will allow Metro brush trucks to utilize the contractor’s two yard waste processing facilities, on the east and west sides of Davidson County, making access more convenient.

The last day of operation at the mulch facility on County Hospital Road in Bordeaux will be December 10, 2016 and Living Earth's locations will open on Monday December 12, 2016. In addition to accepting Metro brush trucks, Davidson County residents with yard waste from their own homes will also be able to drop-off material at either location free of charge. Residents dropping off yard waste must show proof of Davidson County residency. Living Earth will also accept material from landscape and tree trimming companies (businesses should contact Living Earth directly for rates).

Living Earth will be accepting unpainted and untreated wood; limbs and brush; leaves and grass clippings in biodegradable paper bags.

In the future, both locations will offer finished mulch for sale to landscape companies and residents. Sales of mulch are not expected to begin until later in 2017 and anyone interested in purchasing mulch should contact Living Earth directly.
