How Do I Destroy Records
Records
destruction is a fundamental component of a lifecycle approach to
records management. In Metro government,
all records
destruction must be performed strictly in accordance with approved
Metro records schedules.
Many records for which the approved retention has expired may be
destroyed by recycling. On the other hand, some records do contain
information
that must remain confidential and cannot be released. When the approved
retention for these records has expired, they must be destroyed using
Metro’s approved secure records destruction service.
For more information on Metro’s secure records destruction
process, as well as how to identify confidential information, see
the listings
below under Documentation and Forms.
For more information on approved records schedules see our page on
records schedules: Records
Schedules.
For a list of all Records Management forms, you may access our Forms
page: Records Management
