Essentials of Records Management (460)
The Division of Records Management offers a four-hour course, open to all employees of Metropolitan Government, on the fundamental concepts of records management in Metro government. This course is one of several records management core courses required for all Metro Records Officers.
Course
Content:
· Understand the purpose of records management
· Understand concepts, such as records series
and records schedules, that are fundamental to managing Metro government
records
· Understand the role of Records Officers, the
Public Records Commission, the Records Management Division, the Metro Records
Center, and the Metro Archives in managing Metro government
records
· Learn how to identify and handle public records in the context
of Metro government
· Learn how to use records schedules to determine when records may
or may not be destroyed
