Protecting Critical Records (466)
The Division of Records Management offers a four-hour course on identifying, managing, and protecting records that are critical for the continuing operation of a Metro department, office, agency, and/or Metro government overall. The very nature of emergency events is that they are unplanned, and emergency events can negatively impact records which are critical for Metro government to function. A records protection plan can make it possible to respond effectively to emergency events, and plan for recovery of affected records, should an emergency event occur. This course is one of several records management core courses required for all Metro Records Officers. Other employees of Metro Government also may attend.
Course Content:
Introduce concepts for protecting critical records
Discuss types and levels of emergency events that can negatively impact records
Understand how to identify critical records
Understand the basic components of a records protection plan
Review methods and techniques for response in an emergency event
Review methods and techniques for recovering records after an emergency event
