BLTC named provider in new TennCare managed care programs.
BLTC has contracted with the state’s new TennCare programs AmeriChoice and AmeriGroup Community Care, that became effective April 1.According to information shared with providers by the Tennessee Department of Finance/Bureau of TennCare, these two managed care organizations return the state to full-risk managed care. AmeriChoice and AmeriGroup will provide the state solvent health care plans with which to work and a lower exposure of financial risk. They will also provide enrollees one product for their medical and behavioral care.
“Collectively, AmeriChoice and Amerigroup Community Care cover some 2.5 million lives in approximately 20 other Medicaid markets. They have extensive experience in Medicaid managed care and both are highly successful, publicly traded companies,” explained Randy Pirtle, chief financial officer for the Metropolitan Hospital Authority.
The TennCare pharmacy benefit will not change for enrollees following the transition. TennCare will continue to cover pharmacy services, except for those individuals with both TennCare and Medicare, whose prescriptions are covered by Medicare Part D.
Preauthorizations are required for skilled nursing facility services; care by medical specialists and for selected diagnostic procedures and elective hospitalizations.
To ensure compliance with the appropriate authorizations, healthcare providers may contact AmeriGroup’s Provider Services at 615-231-6065 or 800-454-3730 or AmeriCare Provider Services 800-690-1606.
Additional concerns may be directed to the TennCare Enrollment Center of Middle Tennessee, 800-523-2863.
BLTC receives Beacon Award
Citing outstanding continuous quality efforts that eased pain and the use of restraints for elders, QSource, the quality improvement organization for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, honored Bordeaux Long-Term Care as the 2004 Beacon Award winner at its annual quality conference.
Applauding the composition of the facility’s multi-disciplinary teams, the commitment to the CMS reporting process and the work of the leadership and medical staffs, the award was presented to Chief Operating Officer and Administrator May Bennett; Assistant Administrator Barbara Morrison; Director of Nursing Shara Stodola and Quality Manager Tiffani Reed.
“We honor Bordeaux for acting like a beacon for the state of Tennessee as they showed the way for quality improvement both internally and externally,” said QSource’s Dawn Fitzgerald when announcing the winner.
“This award is the result of collective efforts from so many BLTC staff who share in our commitment to quality,” said Bennett.
Selection of the Beacon Award winner is based upon a facility’s willingness to embrace continuous quality improvement as a proven healthcare improvement tool, leadership participation and support, empowerment of the facility’s quality improvement team and a willingness to share success and lessons learned with colleagues.
BLTC wins two of 10 THCA Awards of Excellence
With its commitment to continuous quality improvement paramount in its mission, Bordeaux Long-Term Care was awarded two of ten statewide awards by the Tennessee Health Care Association.
The facility’s Bordeaux Babes group was recognized as Innovative Program and Baker and Kitty Holbrook were named individual volunteers of the year. Six Babes members, as well as Baker, and owners Kitty and Bill Holbrook attended the awards ceremony at the Opryland Hotel.
“We are so honored to have received two of the ten statewide awards of excellence and these nominations are now entered into national competition sponsored by American Health Care Association,” said May Bennett, COO and Administrator.
The Innovative Program award is presented to a THCA member facility that sets a positive industry precedent for others to follow. For individual volunteers, the judges looked at length of service and ability to bring joy, comfort and encouragement to residents.
Metro Council honors Bordeaux Babes, Camp Bordeaux
The Bordeaux Babes and Camp Bordeaux were honored with special resolutions by the Metropolitan Council, for
their outstanding service to the Nashville community and to the residents at BLTC respectively.
Co-authored by Council members Brenda Gilmore and Jim Gotto, and joined in the presentation by Carolyn Baldwin Tucker, four Babes and nine campers were guests in Council chambers during the formal readings.
Nursing Director Shara Stodola accepted the Resolution
on behalf of the 13 charter Camp Bordeaux members who began in the Eden Alternative program in 2003. They were also named Disney All Star volunteers by the Points of Light Foundation and finalists in the 2004 Mary Catherine Strobel Volunteer of the Year competition.
“The 2004 Camp Bordeaux team grew to 40 volunteers from age 6 though 21, and provided an array of activities for both the residents and the young volunteers,” said Stodola, adding that kittens, goats and dogs were also a very big part of the Wednesday and Friday summer activities.
