- The Election
Commission will complete identifying voting precincts resulting from
implementation of the 2002 State and Metro Redistricting Plans in late
FY 2002. Every registered voter in Davidson County, approximately 320,000
persons, will receive a new voter registration card in compliance with
the Redistricting Plan.
- The Sheriffs
office continues to offer community service to Davidson County Taxpayers
at an unprecedented level. Last year alone, more than 500,000 inmate
work hours were dedicated to this service and just over $3 million was
saved using an inmate work force.
- Nashville
Public Library patron use and attendance figures reached an all-time
system-wide high, with a 34% increase in visits and a 41% increase in
materials circulation.
- During
the past year, the Parks Department has emphasized projects related
to neighborhoods by improving and expanding playgrounds, tennis courts,
and park areas, providing significant programming in community centers,
and continuing a vital program of greenway development.
- Metro
Arts awarded $1,863,658 in 60 grants to 40 local creative and performing
arts organizations.
- Under
a new agreement, Metros cost per ton to dispose of trash that
once went to its Thermal Transfer Plant has been cut by more than 75
percent.
