Metropolitan Management Institute Graduates 252 (Human
Resources)
In only its second year of existence, the Metropolitan Management Institute
program graduated a class that is almost twice the size of the March 2003
graduating class. This year's class consisted of 252 graduates from more
than 20 Metro departments. This rigorous course of study - a partnership
between the Department of Human Resources and the University of Tennessee’s
Institute for Public Service -- serves as a model for neighboring cities
across Tennessee. All graduates of the Metropolitan Management Institute
have learned how to provide better service to the citizens of the metropolitan
area.
Metro
employees assisted in purchasing homes (Mayor)
The
Mayor’s Office of Affordable Housing assisted 128 Metro employees
in purchasing homes in Davidson County in 2003 through the Metro HOME
(Home Ownership for Metro Employees) Down Payment Assistance Program.
Since the program’s inception, over 300 Metro employees have been
able to purchase a home through this program representing more than$34
million in sales and generating over $350,000 a year in property taxes.
