How to Navigate this Guide
This web site gives citizens access to the budget for Metro Government
of Nashville and Davidson County. Several features are available to help
you find information that is interesting to you.
General Budget Information
For general information about the budget, click the links in the left
navigation boxes. After the Recommended Budget has been submitted to the
Council for review and approval the following will be available:
- The Budget Book
- Department Level Information
These two items are described in the following paragraphs.
The Budget Book
The budget book is presented in PDF format. When you click on a link to
the budget book, it may take a few minutes to download the PDF file. Also,
when the file opens, there may be a short delay while your computer finds
the bookmarked location in the file. After you are finished reading a
section in the Budget Book, click the Back button on your Internet browser
to return to the budget web site.
Department Level Information
To find budget information about a specific department, use the drop-down
lists to the left. Information about both the operating budget and the
capital improvements budget is available. When you view a department page,
you will see a departmental organizational structure, links below it and
a box containing contact information.
The links inside the organizational structure give you more information
about a specific division in the department. The links below the organizational
structure give you more information about a department's budget including
the following:
- At a Glance
This is a Basic narrative that describes the department and summarizes
its budget.
- Budget Highlights
This is a list of changes in this fiscal year’s budget.
- Capital Improvements Budget
This is the department's listing in the Capital Improvements Budget.
Some departments do not have a capital improvement budget.
- Budget Performance
This section measures achievement of objectives for each significant
activity or service, with projected targets for this fiscal year.
The box at the bottom of the department page gives you easy access to
contact information for the department including the following:
- Departmental web site (if it exists)
- E-mail links to the department head and the budget contact
- Phone numbers
- Physical mailing address
Streaming Media

they can.
