Parking at General Hospital

Parking is available at the Albion Street parking garage, a five level facility, located across from the front entrance of Nashville General Hospital.  The first level is reserved for handicapped patients, parents of hospitalized NICU patients and attending physicians.  Additional handicapped parking is available on other levels near the elevators.  Patient and visitor parking is availavle on the second and third levels with easy access to elevators or stairs.  Shuttle service is available for transportation between the garage and the hospital.

Everyone must obtain a parking ticket from the automated ticket dispensor upon entering the garage.  All visitors and patients will be charged a fee for parking in the garage. The amount charged for parking will range from $1.00 to $4.00 depending on the length of time parked in the garage.  The maximum for continuous all day parking will be $4.00.  If you lose your parking ticket the charge will be $4.00.

Patient Parking:
Anyone who is at the hospital for a physician’s appointment or other outpatient or inpatient procedure will need to have their parking ticket authorized by a staff member in the area of their appointment.  Present the authorized parking ticket at the Information Desk on the first floor as you leave and have it validated before leaving the hospital.  A validated parking ticket lets the parking attendants know to allow for a reduced parking fee for patients.  The ticket must be authorized and validated for patients to receive this service.

Drop Off and Pick Up:
Patients may be dropped off and picked up in the drive thru circle in front of the hospital.  Parking in this area is limited to five (5) minutes only due to the flow of traffic through this area.

Shuttle Service:
The hospital Security Department will provide assistance for patients who have difficulty getting to and from the parking garage.  You can request the service in the following ways:

From Garage to Hospital:  There are two (2) ways to call for this service.

  1. There is a small speaker box located next to the soft drink machine (near the entrance) on the ground floor.  Press the button and when the attendant responds please tell them what you need.
    or
  2. There is a phone on each elevator in the garage. Lift the phone and wait for the attendant to respond.  Please let them know where you will be located in the garage to assist the shuttle driver in locating you.

From Hospital to Garage:
Let the receptionist at the Information Desk on the 1st floor know that you will need the shuttle to help you to get to yor car in the garage.  They will notify the service for you

Please be kind.  There is only one shuttle cart and its seating is limited.  If you are physically able to walk to and from the garage, we encourage you to not use the shuttle.  This will allow the shuttle to provide prompter service for the patients who really do need the assistance.
