Building Operations Support Services
("B.O.S.S.") is a function of the Department of General Services and is responsible for management of facilities comprising approximately 3.2 million square feet of building space and over 290 acres at more than 70 locations in Metro Nashville. Some of the major buildings include the Metro Courthouse, Criminal Justice Center, Ben West Building, Emergency Communication Center, Police Precincts and other police service buildings, Lindsley Hall, the 222 Building, and other General Services facilities.
In October 2005, BOSS instituted an online system for submitting and tracking maintenance issues in General Services facilities. If an employee wishes to report a problem in a facility managed by General Services, he/she should contact one of the people designated to request maintenance for your office. These individuals will be able to access the work request screen, and can ensure that the concerns are forwarded through the online system to the specific member(s) of BOSS staff responsible for that office area.
To find out who in a given office is designated to submit work requests, employees can contact BOSS by phone during regular business hours, or email a question to us. We use land-line and cell phones, alpha pagers, e-mail, and two-way radios for effective communication to ensure requests are handled as quickly and efficiently as possible.
If an employee feels the situation being reported is an emergency, call 568-4291 or 642-5706 or 456-0231 during business hours. After hours, employees should call 862-6599.
An emergency exists when there is a threat to public health, welfare, or safety under the emergency conditions.
